  145.        3.3  _K_n_o_w_n__L_i_m_i_t_a_t_i_o_n_s

  147.        This release of the IRIS ATM software has the following
  148.        limitations.
  149.  
  150.           +o Each IRIS ATM-OC3c board simultaneously supports a
  151.             maximum of 39 transmit-only and 34 receive-only virtual
  152.             channels, or 34 bidirectional VCs (for example, 34 PVCs
  153.             in the _p_v_c._c_o_n_f file for IP traffic over port 0).
  154.  
  155.           +o Each IRIS ATM-OC3c 4Port XIO board simultaneously
  156.             supports a maximum of 64 transmit-only and 64 receive-
  157.             only virtual CBR channels, or 64 bidirectional CBR VCs.
  158.             The max number of bidirectional VC's is 256.
  159.  
  160.           +o The IRIS ATM driver does not support IP broadcast
  161.             addresses. This means that the ATM network interfaces
  162.             (_a_t_m_0, _a_t_m_1, etc.)  do not support BOOTP, NIS, RIP,
  163.             _t_i_m_e_d, _g_a_t_e_d, OSPF, and the multicast version of NTP
  164.             (which all use broadcast addresses as part of their
  165.             normal operation).
  166.  
  167.           +o The IRIS ATM driver cannot function as the primary
  168.             interface on a system operating with the IP suite of
  169.             network protocols.
  170.  
  171.           +o This release of IRIS ATM does not support the Raw
  172.             Network Family.  Applications that use the Snoop or
  173.             Drain protocols cannot run over the _a_t_m# interfaces.
  174.  
  175.           +o When the IRIS ATM driver is a leaf node at the
  176.             receiving end of a point-to-multipoint connection, it
  177.             does not support ADD_PARTY requests for that
  178.             connection.  Specifically, IRIS ATM accepts the initial
  179.             SETUP request that adds the system to a multicast call,
  180.             but does not support additional requests to add that
  181.             same system to the same call.

  183.           +o On Origin/Onyx2 systems, running a multiboard maximum
  184.             bandwidth system requires the use of node cards with a
  185.             Hub ver. 2.3 or higher.
